Birthday weekend

Wow, it has been a busy last few days. Kate had her 4-month check-up and shots. She weighed 14.14 lbs and was 24 3/4". I also started back to work. But more on that later.

Did I mention that my wonderful and amazing husband turned 30 on June 6?!! Yes, I snagged a younger man, I am a cougar.

Anyway, Brett is a kind, loving, hilarious husband and a total hands-on father. I am so lucky to have him and feel blessed every day. He is the first person to make me feel beautiful (your parents don't count) and he still thinks I am even after the past 5 (almost) years together have seen my body as not quite the same as we started. :)

I wanted to do a big, huge surprise birthday bash for him at Dave and Busters but apparently I'm not good at hiding things and he found me at and instantly said no way. I think it turned out better this way because we really had an amazing weekend.

On Thursday, the two of us checked into the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in the Disneyland Resort. We stayed on the concierge level. Yes it was expensive but man was it worth it for us. When we pulled up to valet a woman was waiting for us with balloons and a packet. Since it was Brett's b-day we were selected as the "Magical Moment Family of the Day" - whatever that means.

We were escorted past the poor man's check in and up the elevator to the sixth floor for a more private and elite check-in. :) They took our picture and gave it to us in a special frame. Our room overlooked Disney's Grand California Adventure Park. I would say the rooms were quite average and I was a little disappointed with that.

The perk however was the concierge room. We had free rein over all sorts of goodies throughout the day. I am pretty sure we almost ate the cost of the room in the smoked salmon tea sandwiches. We visited the park after we sufficiently stuffed ourselves and then later had dinner at Steakhouse55.

The next morning, after getting our fill of continental breakfast, we visited both parks again. There was barely anyone there that weekend and we walked on a lot of the rides. Lucky for us management was supposed to send some cookies to our room which we never received so instead we got free front of the line passes that we gratefully used on the Indy ride. We certainly had a great time. It is amazing that two thirty year olds can have not a care in the world while at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Sweet baby Kate was at home with Gramma Wende and did splendidly. Thanks mom!

I've rambled on too much already so here is a quick breakdown of the rest of the weekend:

Friday night we had dinner at The Hobbit. All I can say is wow. It was an unbelievable dining experience. Totally unique with delicious, gourmet food and excellent wine. If you are in socal I highly recommend making reservations for a special occasion or just for fun. It is a must do event.

Sunday we had friends and family over for Brett's favorites: pizza, hot dogs, ice cream cake and cookies. It was fun and we love spending time with all these peeps.

I love you, babe. (pictures aren't loading so I will add them later)
